When you have a product, and you need to get a buyer, how do you do it? In the early days of mail, you’d let someone do a sales letter with a pitch, an offer, and a call to action. These days, though, you can do the same thing online: video sales letters (or VSLs). Alex Micol is the master of VSL creation and marketing, but he got there through hard work and perseverance.
A 12-Year-Old Prodigy
Micol knew what he wanted out of life early. He got started in marketing at the tender age of 12, creating Facebook pages that would market to thousands of interested followers. By the time he had turned 18, he had perfected a technique he calls “Scalers.”
Scalers came from his discovery of affiliate marketing. Using the tricks and tips he learned on his Facebook groups, he quickly established a regular stream of solid revenue and believed others could easily do the same.
Growing Businesses Rapidly
Micol knew that the key to his success was to figure out the most efficient way to grow his business. Social media was already a huge market for him, but discovering how to combine VSLs with affiliate marketing helped him grow his bottom line.
At 24, Micol is a well-known affiliate marketer. He attends conferences around the world to speak on his Scalers methodology and help others learn what he does. He’s completed over 10,000 successful ad campaigns on social media and intends to do a lot more. His advice has made many others into high-earning individuals.

Find Out If It’s Worth It
To most new entrepreneurs, entering a niche can be challenging because it might not be worth the effort. Micol advises business owners to delve into the profitability of the niche before they decide to invest in it.
He says you should primarily consider the potential income you can earn from a particular niche. He suggests new owners brainstorm potential niches and then do some research into keywords to see which has the highest rate of return and the lowest competition.
Get Into a Six-Figure Mindset
Micol believes that the biggest thing that holds back people who can succeed is a lack of a positive mindset. He routinely asks people who talk to him what they want out of life, and he’s found that many of them aren’t sure. That hesitation is a sign that their mindset isn’t in the right place.
Instead, he suggests that business owners look at the world through a wider lens. Discover what it means to earn six figures and have that mindset in place. It would help to direct an entrepreneur’s actions and make them more likely to succeed at what they try to do.
Don’t “Strategy-Hop”
Micol has seen many entrepreneurs get caught up in their social media journey. They use a particular strategy for a little while, and when it doesn’t work, they move on to something new and fresh. He says that this is a huge mistake.
He suggests that if you’re going to be a successful marketer, you have to put in the time with your strategy for it to work. There’s no guarantee of how long a strategy will take, but gradually, it’ll start doing the job you want it to. Every time you strategy-hop, you reset the timer on your success.
Focus On One Vertical At a Time
Marketers have a wide range of subjects they would like to cover. They might even be experts in those areas. But trying to do too much with too little is unadvisable for any entrepreneur, especially a one-person crew.
Micol suggests that new business owners focus on one vertical. A single vertical allows you to build your expertise and not let your other interests get in the way. As you become an expert on a subject, you start getting noticed by other brands in the niche, who then reach out to you for collaboration.
Don’t Turn Down Partnerships
Building a business means knowing you can’t do it alone. Even Micol knows that you can’t be a multi-millionaire without a little support. Partnerships are the easiest way to access more potential customers without investing too much money into it.
Once you start getting traction on your social media posts, people will reach out for help with their own marketing. Micol reminds entrepreneurs that collaborating with a business means mutual coverage of both your audience and theirs. Getting your product in front of more eyes means more potential leads.
Keep Things Fresh
Both search engines and humans want the same thing—fresh, new content. You could keep recycling the same type of content and tired old scripts repeatedly, but that won’t get you many new followers, and you might actually lose some. Micol suggests something different.
Instead of doing the same thing over and over, experiment with something new. Always have fresh content, but don’t change it so much that it’s unrecognizable. Have your own style that others can look at and say, yes, that’s something they know and understand coming from a creator they love.
Build Incentives Into Your Content
What’s better than getting something? How about getting something for free? Micol suggests that adding incentives to get your audience engaged and wanting to share your content is one of the best ways to promote organic marketing.
It’s no surprise that people tend to trust other people more than ads they see on social media. Building incentives like free giveaways or bonus content shows followers that you’re interested in their success and that you have something exclusive to offer them, too. It’s a win-win for them.
It’s All About Value
Micol’s business is built on two central pillars. The first is securing the eyes of an audience who want a particular service or business. The second is finding the company that needs an audience to sell to. Micol creates an unbeatable value chain for both sides of his audience by using those two pillars.
